Weather risk analysis
To support offshore activities in the planning and execution phase, we quantify weather-related risks with a range of methods, from persistence analysis to sequential analysis of the entire planning.
Sequential weather risk analysis
Our Advanced Weather Risk Analysis software provides the statistical distributions and key statistics of weather-related delay of offshore activities. It is highly flexible: the user defines any set of limiting criteria and any planning. A Monte Carlo approach estimates the uncertainty of the computed delays and durations. With this, the project planning can be optimised to reduce risk and minimise the overall duration.
Key features:
- Sequential analysis of weather windows from long-term metocean data
- Multiple environmental criteria: user-defined limiting combinations of wind, waves, current, depth and other parameters
- Simulation of complex planning, with dependencies between activities
- Direct and indirect (knock-on) weather delays
- Vessel characteristics per activity
- Statistical uncertainty of waiting times (e.g. P50 and P80)
- Monthly variation of waiting times and durations
We developed such software for TenneT and 50Hertz, through Primo Marine.
Persistence and workability
For simpler questions, persistence and workability statistics of weather windows, per season and for user-defined thresholds and durations, give a quick first estimate of weather downtime.
